Robert Blaske, a native of Olean, was employed in the sheet metal business from 1915-1919 as a contractor. Robert had attended school in Philadelphia, PA, prior to learning the sheet metal trade.

In 1919, Robert and his brother Ed Blaske opened a shop at 511 West State. He offered all kinds of sheet metal work, copper, and even radiator repairs. Over the years, they added Triplex auto glass, welding and torch supplies, asphalt and asbestos shingles, gutters, skylights, rolled roofing, tile, and auto body repair.

In 1928, he purchased 424-430 South Union St from the F.J. Curtain Company, who sold automobiles and parts. This purchase included a large brick structure at 426 and 428 South Union St. This building was used as a 2nd location that housed Union Sales and also storage for a growing business. In 1956 Robert P. Blaske (Bob) took over what his father had started years prior. In 1968, the brick structure on at 426 South Union came down in preparation for a new location that had much more room and space for growth. Over the next 30 years, multiple buildings were added as the footprint kept growing. Daniel Blaske and brother Terry took over the business around the mid-eighties. They continued to grow the business and add materials like lumber and other things they had never carried before. Terry had unexpectedly passed away in 2006, which left Dan as owner. In 2011, Dan had approached his nephew Steve Blaske Jr as he was preparing to retire in the coming years. Dan wanted to make sure the business stayed in the family for a 4th generation. Steve who had attended Saint Bonaventure University for business. This proved to be a perfect match. Since 2011, Steve has set out to expand and grow the business bigger and better than ever. 2025, we broke ground on a 60×100 steel building, a larger gate, larger yard to be able to offer more products than ever. “The best is yet to come.” R.P Blaske.
